Becky & Duffy’s awesome tipi wedding in Darlington was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding! I’m lucky to shoot some incredible weddings across Yorkshire, the North East and Cumbria, but some just stand out. Becky & Duffy, and their lovely family and friends are the nicest bunch of people! I’ve never felt more welcome at a wedding, and truly felt like an honorary guest. In between shooting it was an absolute pleasure to chat to some of the guests and getting to know them. It was also a super-big pat on the back to get a load of compliments on the Bride & Groom’s Lake District Engagement Photos too!
For as long as i’ve been a wedding photographer, it’s been a bucket list goal of mine to shoot a Pre-Wedding/Engagement & a Wedding session in the Lake District. The Lakes is my home from home, my happy place, and where I go to get away from the world. When I had a wedding consultation with Becky & Duffy we got to talking about our mutual love for this beautiful corner of the country. And then I had a proper lightbulb moment, for an extra-special Lake District Pre-Wedding shoot! Being my favourite part of the UK, I’ve got many hidden gems that i’m very fond of. It was an absolute pleasure to share some of these places that are so important to me!
We started our session at Honister Slate Mine. Not the most glamorous sounding of locations, but it sits at the top of the stunning Honister Pass, just south of Keswick. Becky & Duffy (with George the Frenchie tagging along!) were an absolute dream to work with. The very epitome of young love! Treading the slate chips in Doc Martins (so cool!), we found a stunning spot overlooking Buttermere Valley. Like the lake below, this is one of the best views in the Lake District. The road snakes down the steep sided valley, with peaks in every direction.
Following this road down, we all hopped in the car for a short ride to Buttermere. As we walked down to the shore in the sunshine, laughing at George trying to make friends with the lambs, I was reminded of just why I love my job. I get to spend time around people who are well and truly in love. In this case, in my favourite part of the world.
Becky & Duffy are getting married in just a few days in and around Darlington, and I can’t wait! They have been sending me messages with locations where they want to do their couple’s wedding portraits, which couldn’t make me happier!

To celebrate International Women’s Day, I thought I would put together a list of some of my favourite female wedding suppliers! I am lucky and honoured to know some incredible women who work in the wedding industry. I have been inspired and supported by some amazing women in my business journey. So I want to shed the spotlight on some of these lovely suppliers and the awesome work they create!
I can’t believe Tom and Sarah have been married for a whole year! Happy Anniversary you absolutely lovely pair. It was a pleasure to be a part of their beautiful Tunnels Beaches Wedding in Devon! Their friends and family traveled from as far as Australia to celebrate. And this is still my furthest away wedding so far, taking about 7 hours to drive from York!
I’m always going to remember 2018 as the year my little Yorkshire wedding photography business really started to spread it’s wings. I am truly grateful for all of the incredible couples and other wedding suppliers that I’ve gotten to work with and learn from this year. I’m going to keep this review short but sweet, so here goes!
Engagement or pre-wedding photos are the perfect way to start celebrating – long before the big day! Not only is it an amazing gift to give yourselves, but it’s good practice for your wedding portraits! And of course you’ll need some modern, romantic and creative shots to use for wedding invites and to share on social media with all your friends and family. Plus it’s the best way to commemorate this exciting part of your lives!
Time has flown since Dani & Ben braved the midday sun in the middle of a heatwave, to capture some wedding magic in the glorious Peak District. As well as shooting at an incredible industrial city-centre venue, I took this pair to one of my favourite spots in the Peak District – Stanage Edge. For wild at heart & adventurous couples, this scenic spot has picture perfect panoramic views. It is a perfect location for wedding portraits, an engagement photoshoot, or a stunning elopement.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since my good friends Rachael & Charles tied the knot! It was a long but incredibly fun day, shared between our brilliant group of friends from uni. For May the 6th, I want to wish you a very happy 1st anniversary! As this was the first wedding that I solo shot, it also happens to be my 1st anniversary as a wedding photographer! I wanted to celebrate the occasion by re-editing a few of my favourite photos from their day!
