Industrial Chic Meets Tropical Vibes – Modern & Romantic Wedding Styled Shoot – Sheffield & Peak District, UK

Time has flown since Dani & Ben braved the midday sun in the middle of a heatwave, to capture some wedding magic in the glorious Peak District. As well as shooting at an incredible industrial city-centre venue, I took this pair to one of my favourite spots in the Peak District – Stanage Edge. For wild at heart & adventurous couples, this scenic spot has picture perfect panoramic views. It is a perfect location for wedding portraits, an engagement photoshoot, or a stunning elopement.

Of course I didn’t keep this lovely pair (would you believe they aren’t a real couple?!) in the baking sun all day – we spent the morning of our wedding styled shoot at the incredible Trafalgar Warehouse. This somewhat hidden gem slap-bang in the middle of Sheffield is a dream industrial venue – a blank canvas with some amazing features. The glass tiled windows and rustic wooden tables are definite highlights for me. Such a versatile venue can be transformed in so many ways, but I turned to Perfect Venue Dressing to help bring my vision to life. Industrial chic is something I truly gained an appreciation of during my time living in Sheffield, with its wide variety of industrial buildings. To provide contrast, I wanted to include tropical greenery, something else I love – indicated by my ever growing collection of houseplants!

The glass tiles behind the top table are an incredible industrial feature and let in so much light! For such a bright and airy venue, white and pastels work well, with green and copper highlights like we used here.

The lovely ladies from Perfect Venue Dressing did a superb job of helping me achieve my vision. What was clear from working with them was their vast depth of knowledge when it comes to styling venues, with the ability to merge colour palettes and contrasting concepts in such a seamless way.

The tropical vibe was made possible by the very talented Frenchie Loves Flowers, who sourced some beautiful green foliage, including (to my delight!) some incredible Monstera leaves. Francesca worked her magic for sure, dressing the table & venue beautifully, including the eye catching centrepiece & stunning copper foliage arch.  A tip from Francesca for you budget savvy brides and grooms – foliage is cheaper than flowers! If you’re not the biggest fan of floral arrangements, or if you simply love  the simplicity of a deep green & glossy foliage arrangement, then this can be a great way to keep costs down, or dress more of your venue for the same budget!

The Monstera leaves were an extra special touch to these vibrant, green tropical centerpieces. Instead of flowers, a few poppy heads were used to create a central focal point.

While we’re talking about the decor, let’s not forget the all-important stationery! Hannah of HCA Weddings provided our incredible range of stationery, and I couldn’t have been happier with it. She worked through a series of edits with me, making sure I was 100% happy with the final product. She perfectly treaded the fine line between following a brief & letting her creativity flow. Hannah provided a range of chic & elegantly simple stationery, which perfectly complemented the styling, venue & foliage.

When I first met Keely from Luna Bride, I fell completely head-over-heels in love with her stunningly elegant dresses. Keely is lovely and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough for brides looking for dresses that compliment, rather than distract from the person wearing it. I chose the ‘Beach’ dress for this shoot, which I hope you agree, is an absolute dream. Even better, for ethical-conscious brides, Luna Bride dresses are hand-made made from organic cotton in Harrogate, Yorkshire.

The ‘Beach’ dress from Luna Bride is beautifully detailed, with delicate lace sleeves, perfect for boho brides. The Groom’s navy blue suit was a stylish contrast to the dress and styling.

For the suit, I picked another local company, the ever-popular Tweed & Groom , who brought along an excellent selection of suits for us to choose from on the day. The chosen navy blue suit (which I would have happily worn myself!) was perfectly paired with a liberty print tie and pocket square – finishing off the modern yet timeless look with a subtle nod to the foliage theme.

Leigh from Makeup by Leigh provided hair and makeup for this shoot, and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. Not only is Leigh incredibly friendly and easy to work with, but she effortlessly created exactly the look I wanted. Leigh also traveled with me, Ben & Dani to the Peak District for the second part of our shoot, creating a second look for Dani – despite the scorching heat and windy conditions!

A simple but elegant wavy style, with a foliage headband was the first look that Leigh created.

The second bridal look Leigh created was an up-do, also incorporating the foliage headband. The bridal makeup was minimal and natural, accentuating the brides features.

When thinking about a cake for this shoot, I knew that something simple and elegant was required. Considering the chic and modern look I envisioned, only one local cake maker came to mind – Charlotte from Rebel Cakes. With pastel shades and copper brushed detailing, this incredible cake fitted in with the rest of the styling perfectly. Having tried a range of Charlotte’s cakes and macarons – as a self-confessed cake lover – they are amazingly delicious too!

This elegant wedding cake was the perfect fit for this shoot, with nods to the copper styling and the tropical foliage.

For the shoot (as you would want with a wedding), I wanted the venue to smell amazing. Sense of smell is often grossly understated in the importance of setting a mood & creating an experience. Which is why I brought in Luxury Scent Stylists Champagne & Flamingos, who specialise in making venues smell beautiful. Sense of smell is very closely linked to the parts of the brain that handle memory and emotions, so working with a scent specialist on your wedding day can be the perfect way to make your day even more memorable.

Not only did these candles make the entire venue smell amazing, they were the perfect finishing touch to the copper foliage arch.

Last, but by no means least, Sian of Sian Chaplin Events was invaluable for handling the logistics of this whole shoot with ease & professionalism that any couple would be lucky to have!

A huge thanks to all of the suppliers and models who made this shoot possible, and thank you to Lets Bee Together, who published this shoot on their blog!
