As the world is gripped by the Coronavirus pandemic, it's having an unprecedented effect on people's lives and businesses. Wherever you're reading this blog from, I hope you, your family and friends are safe and well. I wanted to create a blog post which i'll be updating for the foreseeable future while the situation continues to have an effect on people's lives, wedding plans, and on my business. My aim is to try and provide some reassurance and answers to some common questions, but (whether you've booked me already or not!) please feel free to contact me by email or on social media if you have any specific questions.

Am I Still Open?

While i'm obviously not shooting wedding currently (as of 9th May 2020), I am still very much open for business. As well as working hard with my current bookings to move them to a new date if they need, I am also still being contacted by couples who are booking weddings in 2021 and beyond.

How Safe is my Business?

In a nutshell - very. I am in a very fortunate position where all of my couples so far who've had to cancel their 2020 wedding plans have postponed rather than cancelled. I'm proud to have been able to allocate a new date to all of these bookings! Secondly, I run a very lean business with few overheads and importantly no debt and good liquidity, while also continuing to be full-time employed (I like to keep busy!).

Can You Still Book Me?

YES! Please do! I am fully open for business and it's fantastic to be talking to couples about their wedding plans at such a challenging time. If you are in a position to, please continue to book your wedding suppliers! We are a resilient industry, but myself and my colleagues are struggling to varying degrees from the loss in income and extra costs associated with the pandemic, so every little bit helps!

I am a big supporter of small, local and independent businesses, and by booking your wedding suppliers during this difficult time, you are not only supporting us, but allowing us to support other small businesses which we buy from.

When Will I be "Back to Normal"?

At this stage, I honestly don't know. We are obviously bound by the legal requirements of the government, but our ability to get back to anything near normal will largely be dictated by wedding venues and register offices. Rest assured, when I am able to work again, I'll be there! I take the pandemic incredibly seriously (As mentioned on my About page, I used to be a Microbiologist!), so I will take all the necessary precautions when I do return to work, and for the foreseeable future until risks have passed.

Do I Think Weddings Will Change in the Future?

I think definitely in the short term we may see a shift towards Elopements, Micro Weddings, and Socially Distant Weddings (whatever they may look like). How long this 'short term' lasts though is almost impossible question to answer! I do think though that once the threat from the virus has passed, weddings will return to normal pretty quickly, and those of you who choose to have a larger wedding will be able to do so!
