Becky & Duffy’s awesome tipi wedding in Darlington was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding! I’m lucky to shoot some incredible weddings across Yorkshire, the North East and Cumbria, but some just stand out. Becky & Duffy, and their lovely family and friends are the nicest bunch of people! I’ve never felt more welcome at a wedding, and truly felt like an honorary guest. In between shooting it was an absolute pleasure to chat to some of the guests and getting to know them. It was also a super-big pat on the back to get a load of compliments on the Bride & Groom’s Lake District Engagement Photos too!
“Throughout the wedding day Stewart was so friendly and kind to everyone, he spent time chatting to our friends and family and everyone commented on how lovely he was and how lucky we were to have him! He also made sure that we got every single group/family/bridal party photo we wanted!”
The day started at Becky’s Parent’s house in Darlington, with the Bride, Bridesmaids and Becky’s Parents getting ready. I got to catch up with my favourite little four-legged wedding guest George (who can resist dogs at weddings?!). After he posed for a few shots, I started to notice all of the little wedding details! The lovely pastel bridesmaid dresses (in the colours of the rainbow of course) with custom hangers were fantastic. I’m a total sucker for wedding flowers, so of course I loved the beautiful sunflower bouquets by Darlington Florist Flowers by Nattrass.
Before we headed to the church, me and Becky jumped at the opportunity for some bridal portraits in a nearby field! This was the first time I had a proper look at Becky’s dress from Bridal Factory Outlet – and it was an absolute stunner. Becky was a beautiful bride – radiating pure happiness – and an absolute natural in front of the camera!
“On the day of the wedding, Stewart made us feel so comfortable and at ease. He was brilliant even amongst the chaos of 5 bridesmaids and a stressed out bride on the morning, and did an amazing job at keeping us calm, as well as capturing beautiful photos! (He even got a few of our dog which we are very grateful for!)”
Everyone was picked up in vintage VWs, and we headed to All Saints Church in Hurworth-on-Tees. It was one of several ceremonies i’ve heard this year where the Officiant gave a fantastic wedding service. After narrowly avoiding torrential rain, we snuck in some couples photos next to a beautiful section of the River Tees, then headed to the wedding reception.
In the grounds of The Old Farmhouse Pub, the TipiChic tipi was set up and looked fantastic! Congrats to everyone involved who turned a field in Darlington into a tipi wedding festival! The inside of the tipi had some fantastic ceiling decorations, courtesy of Very Eventful. We survived one more downpour, before enjoying a fantastic afternoon of wonderful sunny weather! Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, Duffy surprised almost everyone (including Becky!), by reforming his band and playing a live set!!!
“Stewart really contributed to how amazing and perfect our wedding day was, he’s a lovely and genuine person and we cannot recommend him highly enough! Not only did we have our perfect wedding photographer I am proud to say we have also made a friend for life! Thank you Stewart!”
A huge congratulations to Mr & Mrs Duffy! You know you’ve done a good job when a couple wants to stay in touch after the wedding!
